2017 Yamaha MT 10 SP Review.

2017 Yamaha MT 10 SP

The brand new 2017 Yamaha MT 10 SP is finally here. We have previously talked about its younger family members; the MT 07 & MT 09 (click here to check them). Now, let’s take a closer look at what the MT 10 has under its hood (metaphorically speaking).

2017 Yamaha MT 10 Features.

The Engine.

This beautiful machine is loaded with a 998cc, 4-cylinder engine that provides you with linear torque. The reason behind this performance is its uneven 270-180-90-180 firing sequence.

Clutch & Transmission.

Since the manufacturer realize the fact that every second count, the Yamaha MT 10 SP is loaded with a Quick Shift System that works in harmony with the (A&S) clutch system for your convenience.

More Agility.

If you are not impressed by the fact that the Yamaha MT 10 SP is loaded with a developed version of chassis that is derived from the award-winning Yamaha YZF-R1’s one, then we would love to inform you that the MT 10 has the shortest wheelbase within its category too (1400mm).

Big Toys for the Boys (Technology).

The 2017 Yamaha MT 10 SP is not so different from other Yamaha models when it comes to riding aid systems.  A three-level traction control system (TCS), the famous Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle (YCC-T) as well as the D-Mode system to provide you with a more customized riding experience (easy, standard and aggressive).

Braking & Suspension.

Dual floating 320mm discs with 4-pot opposed piston calipers are at your service, along with a rear 220mm rear disk. That’s the kind of breaking power needed to halt the 2017 Yamaha MT 10 beast.

As for the suspension system, the Yamaha MT 10 SP is equipped with an electronic customizable Ohlins suspension system. This provides you with the best adaptive option to different riding conditions during acceleration, cornering, and braking.

Cool Gadgets.

A Thin Film Transistor LCD that is so tempting to admire that will make it nearly impossible to keep your eyes on the road (yes, we love to exaggerate from time to time), and a cruise control system that works once you cross the 50 Km/ Hr limit.

Bada** Look.

Well, most of the motorcycles are loaded with LED lights, but seriously, take another look at the Yamaha MT 10 SP model. Its design is simply screaming “I’m Aggressive”.  It’s tank sharp lines, the front and rear looks are will definitely make you steal the spotlights.

Our Final Call.

The 2017 Yamaha MT 10 SP edition has some of the R1 features as it has been revealed earlier (chassis and LCD) not to mention an improved braking system than its predecessors (as far as we recall).

It’s not the first time for Yamaha to use the YZF-R1 features in other models (click here to check the 2017 YZF-R6 model to understand what we are talking about), but it’s not as if we are complaining or anything.
